Vinyl Stripes -- you get what you pay for!

I decided on these stripes a few months ago but held out for the ol' christmas gift. So today my friend (who does commercial signs/wraps/etc.. for a living) applied the stripes for me, and they lasted about 10 minutes before we yanked them off.

This first photo is what I was expecting. Notice the spacing between the strips, and the nice, precision-cut rounded ends?

now, this is my friend applying the stripes -- the first thing I notice is that the ends are just blunt-cut, and the curved ends that butt-up to the Fiat logo look as if they were cut with a pair of school scissors. Also the spacing between the stripes is completely wrong.

so this is what I ended up with today, and I quite like it. Just the logo, which was cut very nicely. My friend said he'd make me some new, quality stripes at his shop. ..or who knows? I might just leave the little Fiat logos for a while since everybody has stripes already.

I like the clean look of just the logo. Something came to mind immediately when I scrolled down to the last photo ~ that logo would look great where they place the side scorpion badges on Abarths. Everyone does stripes. You've done something completely new. Cool.

If I had a Sport & were going to put stripes on it, I'd probably go with the classic 1958 500 Sport look.

    Bravo for being different.

I do vinyl as a side business. Your buddy could have easily changed his design. That's about $12 worth of material on your stripes.

he did NOT make those stripes. I bought them on eBay. The first thing he said when he opened the box was "oh, uh -- I guess this material is okay..". Which made me nervous. then, as he was installing them, he pointed out all the hand cuts -- which were absolutely terrible. The ONLY good thing about them was the Fiat logo. He's (my friend) going to make me new stripes at his shop if I want them.

I really think a lot of the eBay sellers are just guys with vinyl plotters they found on Craigslist that decided to go into the eBay business.

Vinyl have many different grade and brand. the best one like 3M, Avery or FDC can have from 5 to 9 years outdoor life. Some other brand may only have 3 years or less outdoor life. these cheap ebay sales may not sell you these type of good materials! because these good graded are kind of expensive per roll.

If you receive the decal that have hand cut finishing or bad cutting edges, that mean the seller does not have the professional grade cutter. low end cutter have very limit cutting capability, specially in details, large or extra long graphics. if you paid only $25 for a pair of 80" long decals with free shipping. I bet you will receive these low end stuff!

yeah the old term "you get what you pay for" applies to everything.
Personally I think the Bianco sport looks great without stripes

Like this? I just saw this car on Craigslist. I don't think it works well in that spot.

It may be a little big ~ I'd go smaller. Yours still looks fantastic without the stripes, though.
