Do you agree with the Consumer Report?

You’ve got to go out of your way to buy a bad vehicle these days.

This is because automakers have improved their products so spectacularly in recent decades. Even so, they all can’t be winners; there are still a few clunkers lurking in the shadows, cars and trucks you’d best sidestep like a goose turd on a golf green.

Our friends at Consumer Reports have compiled a list of 10 vehicles that should be avoided, no matter how attractive their styling or deeply they’ve been discounted. Each of these models is the lowest rated in its respective segment, from subcompact cars and electric vehicles to pickup trucks and luxury SUVs.

It’s important to note these ratings are based on several important factors, including a vehicle’s overall road test score, its owner satisfaction rating, safety score and, of course, the thing Consumer Reports is most famous for, reliability estimates. With that boilerplate out of the way, make sure to watch the embedded video to learn about the 10 worst new vehicles available in 2017.

Nobody believes CR, not since the 1980's Suzuki Samurai scandal.

I mean just look at that guy in the video.

Would you go out for a beer with him?

I was going to reply "Only is he drives" but that was before watching the video...thinking I'd be clever and was assuming you were being sarcastic and referring to the crash test dummy I assume is in the I think 500L in the thumbnail...hehe.

Then I started the video and saw the guy speaking and realized you almost certainly meant that guy then my answer became just "Nope".

All the current vehicles are in good company. With past vintage offerings. The Pinto, Corvair, Edsel, Jeep, Pacer, "Vega", Suzuki samurai. Even MB, can make dogs. Land Rover been producing them for years. The rich and famous, still purchase them. I really liked the Chrysler 200. They sold well. Didn't realize they were so unreliable. Surprise the little 500, and smart car. Weren't on the list too.
My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was the biggest piece of s--t, ever built. Jeep sold thousands of them.

Thanks for posting the video. A few thoughts. The guy needs to eat a steak. The Mirage isn't that bad for a 10 to 12 thousand dollar car, since all new cars today are WAY better than cars built 10 to 20 years ago. The 200 is actually not that bad. It's just a bit tight for fat Americans, and most were built without the safety suite of auto braking. The Maserati and the Land Rover quality can be suspect, but most stuff that's going to break will do so under warranty, so don't worry about it. Alas, yea, the 500L is kind of an ugly duckling, with an early bad transmission, among other things.

CR reports are respected by me. Doesn't mean I give a rat's "..." about their rating results.

They convey info that is amassed from other sources + what is quantifiable by them.

CR provides a subset of info that is good for me to know.

CR's reporting doesn't capture the fun I have with my Fiat, or my willingness to accept it's short-comings (or any car's short-comings).

I remember when they used to test how well the car would start. and stay running, in the cold and if the choke was automatic or manual.

I remember when CR was our best/only source of info.

    Those days are history.
