At 3875 miles the car provided a system warning (oil change). I scheduled the oil change and my local studio (MA) directed me to an associated Chrysler/Jeep dealer ship for the oil change. I scheduled the service for last night at 6pm. I was advised that a couple service bulletins’ were in place. The door hinges needed to be re-torqued; the cap to the diagnostic port was to be removed; the lug nut wrench needed to be replaced. In addition, I had the lower fog light bulbs replaced with Nokya Artic Yellow H11 bulbs ($34 charge) (great look and better visibility with snow and rain which I drove in today). The whole process took about 1 hour.

I am somewhat surprised that the studio moved the service activities over to an associated dealership. If this is going to be the norm I wondering if any Chrysler dealership can handle my oil changes. I have one within minutes of my house and it would be a whole lot easier.

I usually get my oil changes done at Valvoline. I stopped by a couple days ago and of course they didn't have the necessary oil filter for the 500. I was even told that if the filter is a cartridge filter they would not change the oil. Apparently they broke the housing on a mini some time back and they don't want the liability. Kind of sucks because I have been using Valvoline for over 10 years and I trust the service.

    If I may...

The filter is a cartridge style from what I have been told and apparently there is a special procedure to do an oil change... (again, according to what I have been told). The local Dodge dealership where my shop buys parts stocks the filter and the service writer told me about the oil change procedure... apparently if you dont change the filter first its really easy to overfill the oil when you add new... I can give details as they were explained to me if you like.

when i got my 500 i was told that i could take it to any chrysler, dodge, jeep dealer and that i didnt have to go to a fiat dealer.
first time i took my car for an oil change was at a chrysler dealer and they told me that they dont do fiats but since im under a corporate lease they would do it anyways.
