  1. What to look out for when buying a used 500?

    Fiat 500 General Discussion Forum
I have had my 2012 since spring 2011 and have had no problems. The key to a good used car is a good former owner. Find the oldest former owner you can. An older former owner that has a garage at his house would be best. You could ask, how does the car handle in rough weather, like snow? If the...
  2. Missing bolt found wedged between exhaust and block.

Fiat 500 Engine and Technical Discussion
Or you could just get a replacement bolt. I can understand wanting to get the original one out however. It looks like it's the washer that is wedged in. Ideally you need to push from behind the bottom side of the washer as shown in the picture. If you could get a hooked shape under that side...
  3. Just got my 64k mile service

Fiat 500 Engine and Technical Discussion
Finally made it to 64k, even though mine is a first release 2012 Pop. I STILL HAVE HAD NOT ONE SINGLE ISSUE WITH THE CAR. 1. I do not own a garage, and we have actual winter where I live (I avoid taking it out when the there is salt on the roads, that's the old car's job). 2. I replaced the...
  4. Are the clips that hold the visors covered by warranty?

    Fiat 500 General Discussion Forum
Did you finally realize that the visors release the opposite way from most cars?
  5. FIAT is POS.....

Fiat 500 Engine and Technical Discussion
Kia's are good but they can't take as much abuse as a Japanese car. Toyota or Honda recommended for people who seem to have bad luck with cars.
  6. Transmission oil

Fiat 500 Engine and Technical Discussion
Oil does not need to be changed. There is an access hole to check if it's down. If it's down they would replace the lubricant as that means dirt could get in if the lubricant could get out. The lubricant is not transmission fluid, it is heavy weight gear oil.
  7. Hi Everyone....Need some Feedback on a one time P0128 error..

    Fiat 500 New Member Introductions
Easiest thing to try is replace the pressure cap on the radiator (or wherever it is, haven't looked). These wear out eventually although usually will evidence coolant loss. If it's weak you don't have a fully pressurized cooling loop hence it can not get as hot.

    Fiat 500 General Discussion Forum
If you haven't yet, should replace the radiator pressure cap - this wears out.
  10. A definitive answer to the intermittent no start problem...

Fiat 500 Engine and Technical Discussion
Just turn the key to on, and wait until the beep stops. Engine should then start. I do this and my Pop has started every time since Spring 2011.
  11. Ice warning

Fiat 500 Engine and Technical Discussion
I think you are on to something. There are many accidents after rain starts coming down, more than ice. Would be nice if a carmaker developed a sensor to detect a wet or slippery road surface. It could combine that with temperature information, and put up a display with like a -5 on it...
  12. Finally got the clutch recall done

    Fiat 500 General Discussion Forum
I have a new clutch pedal and brake pedal, plus new hydraulic fluid. I waited until 55300 mi partly based on misleading information in this forum. They were saying that the recall involved putting some kind of stop block under the clutch pedal. In fact the whole assembly gets changed out. The...
  13. Cracked windshield due to poor roof design & proper sound system - how to fix

    Fiat 500 DIY Section
Well it's not a Mercedes, it's not even a German automobile. But it is a world car which was out for several years before we were able to get it in the USA. I bought mine in spring of 2011. It is 100% stock, and has started every single time. It still has the original battery and tires. I'm only...
  14. Cracked windshield due to poor roof design & proper sound system - how to fix

    Fiat 500 DIY Section
I think the title of your thread was provocative and that's causing some negative reactions. What if I accused Fiat of improper design, by not using bulletproof glass? Because I like to use my car for target practice? It's a free country and any kind of off-the-wall pastime is okay, as long as...
