2016 500E AC stopped cooling. Help!

I can live without the AC if it breaks HOWEVER, your car cannot. The same AC compressor for your comfort also cools the coolant for the HV battery when it gets hot so you need to have a functioning compressor. Maybe the compressor is fine but just needs a freon charge up? These cars have a condensor that is easily damaged from road debris so check to see there isnt a pinhole somewhere, look for oily spots too.

If I recall correctly:
  • @twintorboz car is lowered. 2" I think. That makes such a big difference in airflow that it improves range by over 10%.
  • @twinturboz is the only one I can recall ever reporting A/C activating to cool the battery, likely due to the reduced airflow, even when charging: The fan can't push as much hot air out of the radiator.
Still, I recommend keeping an eye on the max cell temperature in OBD, & in the unlikely event that it gets a bit warm, let it rest a bit.
I know for a fact it activates the AC when i drive because the AC lines are cold and wet from condensation even though AC was off, plus i often notice ice cold air entering the car when the vent is set to outside air with fan on and AC set to off, its def colder than outside ambient temps. Perhaps because I drive the car often near its max speed so batteries/motor might be kinda hot. In the summer months the fans/aux pumps remain on after car is shut down or charging so I know its warm/hot.

And oh my "motor bay" is completely sealed, and waterproofed. It has full aerodynamic weatherstrips around all the seams that sees air gaps. it keeps all dust/water out even if i drove through a mini lake of a puddle. I hated how much water gets in there after a rainy drive, id see tops of the OBCM, ECU and battery all wet.
