500e First Service

4223 Views 20 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Choco Coated Bastard
I took my year old 500e in for its first service yesterday. I've clocked up 7,500 miles in that time. Quite a lot seeing I have an ICE for my longer journeys.

As my 500e must have been one of the very first sold in UK, I doubt if many others have been serviced here yet.

No issues needed attention except I expected some software updates were due.

Dealer reported they'd found nothing wrong and had updated some software.

Price was £226 which seems rather a lot as there is nothing more to do than checks, so far as I am aware. I was keen to take the car to the dealer who supplied the car, but next year I'll look for one closer and cheaper.

Good to know your car had no issues.
I took up an offer when I bought my 500e, I paid £299 up front for three years or 27,000 miles servicing. Hopefully I’ll make a saving 🤞
I've got a plan like that for my Giulia Quadrifoglio and it's saved me a fortune. I didn't think to get one for the 500e. I will now
Thanks for this heads up ........ I was never offered a service plan at my Fiat agency ...... is it a Mopar ..... 3 year plan that is used for Fiat 500e?
Yes it’s Mopar, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles UK Ltd. The contract template appears to cover Fiat, Alfa, Jeep and Abarth. Obviously my car is specified with chassis No. and registration number.
I have just been onto my stealer .......... and I am purchasing the service plan ... its a no brainer! The costs are only going to increase ........... you are almost getting two services for free (not quite...but you get my drift)

Dealers are most reluctant to offer (or even sell) the plans because they get paid less by FCA for each service than they would by an owner without a service plan.

Seems a very high price for such a simple service. I did take out the 3 yr plan for £299 but may regret it as I don't see me keeping the car that long.
Finally got a response from Fiat customer care regarding all the bugs/issues which I will post under the right heading.
Would be very interested to know what your software version is now.

Service plan is transferable to a new owner.

I suspect that the software version displayed on the infotainment system is just the infotainment software version and not the software version of the various ECUs of the car. That certainly is the case on my Giulia.
The software version displayed on the infotainment system is FCA-MY21.R17.16-PROD (still)
Whilst Version 4.9 of MultiECUScan doesn't support the 2021 500e, it did give me a listing of the software versions currently on my La Prima as attached.

My car is the 500e La Prima bought new on 5 May 2022.
My software version information screen shows:-
“Build number: FCA-MY21.R17P.2-PROD”

I too think the number relates to the infotainment system.

The current version of the AlfaOBD app appears to support it, at least somewhat*, with "2020+" in the drop-down list (click to enlarge):

*Unfortunately so far on my free "demo" version the only functions are body computer & instrument panel (it shows 14 different functions for the 1st-gen).

ooohhhh.....a Quadrifoglio....VERY nice car. Have you had any issues with it so far?
Europeans? Here in the States the car comes with a 4 year service warranty, parts and labor and software upgrades "FREE" then after 4 years, (or just before) you get 25 to 50 phone calls a day asking you to buy an extended waranty.

5years and 55,000 miles and no real problems and lots of enjoyment. Details, if interested, on alfaowner.com forum

MES 4.9 appears to provide a lot of support for the 1st generation 500e, but not the second yet.
Yes, thank you for saying in post #10 what didn't work*. That is why I replied with what does work (at least somewhat).

* It IS helpful to know what won't work, so we don't waste time trying it ourselves.
I got the plan at £299 for 3 services. To put the price into context my BMW i3 is over £400 per service and all they do is plug it in for diagnostic and change the brake fluid I guess they look around the car too. I had a plan for that though making it a lot cheaper.
And my last Panda was £330 for the second service last month.

I spoke to Gianni at LC Motors today and he too quoted £299 for a 3 services plan and I'll be buying one from him soon.

Also he said that they aren't able to service the 500e currently because they don't have a trained technician yet. He is optimistic they will be qualified to service the 500e by the time my next service is due.
