Hey guys, I just joined the forum after buying a 2013 abarth with 48k. I hoping I can get some guidance. There are a couple issues with the car at the moment:
1) a clunking noise when I turn the wheel but only when parked or low speed as far as I can tell
2) very stiff left to right movement on the shifter (the shifter doesn't return to the center.
I took the car to a Sands Chrysler dealer in Quakertown Pa since it was close to my work. I also need to renew the inspection so I brought the car in this morning.
After about two hours of waiting, the customer service rep came out and told me my car failed inspection and would need about $1500 of work to pass inspection and fix the shifting issue (jaw drops). I am including a picture of their evaluation.
They told me a ball joint was failing and they have to replace the entire control arm as well as a left front strut and a shifter bracket for the shifting issue. Is it normal for all these suspension components to break on a car with less than 50k? Also, I have never heard of a transmission bracket failing. I know the cables and bushings can go but both these were already replaced by previous owner. Any help would be appreciated!
