Long story short I burned my clutch out in a foot of snow in an un-plowed parking lot after a LONG night basically out of frustration and not being 100% lets say. My mistake. My car has 47K so I guess it could be worse.

I purchased the parts from my dealer after I went to cancel the order and they price matched moparonlineparts.com. Moparonlineparts.com description of the pressure plate makes no indication that a clutch disk is included...I inquired and it is actually with it so it's the same as the dealer clutch kit. I contacted them and let them know this could hinder their sales. Purchase the part from moparonlineparts.com or ask your dealer to price match. My dealer wanted $160 for clutch kit(clutch disk, pressure plate), moparonline was $100. Dealer wanted $100 for release bearing, moparonline $60.

It took my dealer 4 business days to get the release bearing(took their sweet time) and 1 business day for the clutch kit from the dealer. moparonline website says 3-5 days for processing then delivery. who knows how long it would actually take but given how long it takes to get to a FIAT studio if they dont price match i wouldnt get it from studio.

I chose not to replace the flywheel or have it machined after my mechanic looked at it and observed no score or abrasions to it (3rd pic). If you want to replace the flywheel I would get it machined for around $30-40 or a new one at moparonline is $160 vs $240 for fiat dealer but it's probably not necessary.

If you go to an independent shop make sure to fully drain/bleed the clutch line before putting assembly back together since it is the same line as brakes(Dot3 fluid)The reverse lock should also be mentioned.

In the past my Fiat studio (Tinley Park, IL) wanted $100 to replace headlights, auto body shop did it for $30. I changed my spark plugs at Merlins for $70(it took them half hr) when my dealer quoted me $200. Basically stay FAR AWAY from brick/mortar studios unless you have to get certain parts from them in a pinch.

It ended up being about 4 hours or so and my labor cost was $300 since I used to deliver auto parts to his shop. Parts were $170 w tax. If you find a shop bring your own parts obviously. Im thinking a independent shop would cost $400-500 for the labor tops. I've heard customers paying $1500 or more from a fiat studio to get their clutch replaced but that is absurd, it's a normal clutch pretty much minus what I mentioned above.

Exactly, generally nobody is going to admit fault with regards to these things. That said, the clutch issue still seems to be occurring to a very limited number of people and I'm not worried about it. There are people I've been talking to on UK based sites who have well over 60K miles on their cars with no problems, so I quit stressing over it.

Dealers usually charge more for repairs anyway, so this is nothing new. The trick is to find a good independent shop that does good work.

So if I were to get it done at the dealer how much would it be, I have the 2012 Fiat 500 pop and only about 45,000 on the car right now?
