Hello all,

I’m a newbie, with a used 2012 Fiat 500.(automatic)
After having my oil changed, I was informed that I have a leaking gasket in the cover. I have a great mechanic, but he’s not sure he can service it correctly.
I wanted to know if this is something simple or do I need to mortgage the home and doghouse? Sorry Fido!
Anyone have this experience? Great forum by the way!
Thanks in advance!

Make sure it's not just the pcv box o-ring on top of the valve cover. Easy and cheap fix.

Yep, especially if the oil leak is at the right side of the engine.

Here's a great video showing how it's done.
(He has part # in the description.) It might be a good idea to service this unit while it's apart for spark plug replacement, since it's just 3 hoses and 3 bolts.

The dealer doesn't sell the PCV valve as a separate piece, but they are available aftermarket. Most shops will replace the unit at a cost of around $100, plus up to an hour's labor. The aftermarket PCV valve and O ring are $12, plus a can of brake cleaner.
