I will believe it when the signatures are on the paper. I see Renault getting the better deal with access to the North American market due to FCA dealerships. FCA as the article states will save R and D costs but most of their profits these days are SUV oriented anyway. Kind of a strange marriage if you ask me but again, not sure if it is a done deal

As I stated above, " I will believe it when the signatures are on the paper". The deal/merger is officially "dead". Renault (French Government) balked and Nissan did not like the way negotiations were going. FCA basically backed out. Such rumors and negotiations are never concrete until everything is final. If nothing else, it gave the automotive media something to write about for a couple of weeks. I think FCA will still merge with another firm. Call me crazy but I think Mazda and/or Nissan are a possibility
