I recently had my drivers side door replaced after a hit and run and I got my car back today. One thing I noticed is that the door lock on my key fob doesn't work after they did the repair. It also doesn't lock any of the doors or the trunk. The car still honks and lights flash and it sounds like the locks are engaging but nothing actually locks. They told me to replace the battery in the key fob which I did but it still doesn't work. Any idea on what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Can you lock/unlock without using the key fob? If so, the locking mechanism is physically working. That's one place to start. If you can't lock/unlock from inside the car, then the likely problem is with the fuse, or some to do with BCM.

It unlocks with the key in the door turning it to the left but when I twist to the right nothing happens and it doesn't lock physically. I am guessing they may have forgotten to connect the linkage in there when they replaced the parts.

That is what it sounds to me as well. I would take it back to the shop, most likely they forgot to connect something, they should own to it and fix it for you, don't let them blame it on the key fob battery or other thing.

What are your exact symptoms? We need more information to suggest potential troubleshooting steps.
Doors and hatch do not lock with key fob. Car honks, lights flash and the locks sound like they are engaging but nothing actually locks. Doors will not lock manually with the key. I do not even hear the sound of the locks seemingly engaging like with fob. Strange thing is I can lock all doors and hatch from driver’s handle inside the car, so actuator must be okay. Drivers side does not stay locked if I manually push handle to lock before exiting. I can manually lock passengers lock from inside before exiting and it will stay locked. Key fob unlocks all doors (we tested by passing keys through open window). Replaced key fob battery, Replaced 20 amp central door locking fuse, Unhooked battery for 2 hours to see if that resets something, Turned key in lock while pushing lock button as read in some post, no luck.

Interesting. It sounds like the actuators are working, you can lock manually from inside the car, can unlock with the fob but, at the same time, cannot lock with either the fob or the key. I would start by checking the key/lock operation. Have you already removed the door panel to see what's going on inside when you attempt to turn the lock cylinder with the key? It should be mechanically engaging the lock via a connecting rod (I think). Is the cylinder turning? Is the rod moving? Actuator is probably using the same rod, by the way.
Does the key turn alright when you insert it into the lock? Maybe, if one cylinder is rusty, it could interfere with the locking function (depending upon how the actuators are setup inside the dor)... But I cannot imagine that this would also affect the trunk, in any way, since this is a completely different mechanism

Also, have you already scanned the codes of the BCM? There might be some useful information in there.

Not sure if my last attempt at replying actually posted, sorry if this ends up a duplicate. The post below had same issue, but I am not clear on that they “reinstalled” to fix it.

Okay, in that other post, the person took the panel out and made some adjustments to the driver's door locking mechanism. According to that post, the driver's actuator locks all the other doors and the fob activates the driver's actuator. I have also never seen a system like that but, if this is true, that would explain the described symptoms if, for example, there was a mechanical problem with your driver's locking mechanism.
It is really strange that the key does not physically lock the door, form the outside. I would still recommend taking off the driver's panel and checking what is happening when you attempt to use the key. There is not much in there: the lock cylinder, the actual locking mechanism, the electrical actuator, a couple of wires, and connecting rods. That's it ;)

By the way, are you up north? I've had a driver's side lock stuck due to rust, on an Audi A6, once. It was very funny, trying to drive the car to work and hold the door shut with one hand, at the same time, because it would not latch...:ROFLMAO: Had to take the lock apart and clean it well. So, really weird things can sometimes happen.
