The fact that this Fiat 500 commercial only hints at what the Fiat 500 is probably what Fiat's intention was. I guess Fiat thought by hinting to what the 500 is in the commercial, it will make people want to find out what exactly it is.I find the ad very appealing, fun, cute and memorable.
But at the same time, it only hints at what the 500 is all about. There's no real information, only "feelings" involved. I don't know if I make sense, but if I saw the ad, I wouldn't know what kind of car the Fiat is. Sure, "a car for our times", but what does that mean?
I hope the strategy doesn't backfire...
After all the commercial was pretty cool and by far different than any other automotive commercial I have seen.
