Your best bet will be to contact the dealer with your VIN. Some locksmiths used to be able to pull key info, but this is probably a dealer only fix these days.

This seems to be a costly affair. They are asking around $1500 for one key.

That is more expensive than I expected, was expecting about $300. You might check with several local locksmiths. Some have mobile key cutting services. For Fiat security to be bypassed, the locksmith will need to be at the vehicle and they can cut a key and "hack" the car's codes into a new key. If they have a blank on hand, you can have new keys in an hour. The bottom paragraph on this page explains how this works.
