Mopar unveils products to customize Fiat 500s

Chrysler Group LLC's Mopar Division — long the purveyor of muscle car fantasies — is turning its attention to the Fiat 500, with more than 150 new accessories to customize the cute subcompact.

There is probably no better symbol of the marriage between the Auburn Hills automaker and Italy's Fiat SpA than a black Mopar mag wheel on petite 500. But Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of the aftermarket parts division, said it is a natural fit.

"Both are about personalization," he said. "The Fiat 500 is one of the most customized vehicles in Europe. And this personalization is what Mopar is all about."

Aftermarket parts are a profitable revenue source for automakers, but Gorlier said Mopar's benefit goes beyond the bottom line. The more attached customers are to their vehicle, the more likely they are to buy another one from the same brand. He said Mopar makes that attachment stronger, because it allows motorists to easily create unique vehicles that match their personal style.

Options for the Fiat 500 range from $21 locking gas cap to a $1,400 body kit.
Check out Autosinsider.com for exclusive video and an interview with Gorlier.

Mopar parts are unique in that they are engineered and tested with the same teams that create factory-authorized vehicle specifications for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck vehicles – a direct connection that no other aftermarket parts company can provide. A complete list of Mopar accessories and performance parts is available at www.mopar.com
More Than 70 Years of Mopar
When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.
Mopar (a simple contraction of the words Motor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It also was widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s — the muscle-car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth "package cars" equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of "special parts" for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.

I'm interested in the Katzkin leather interior option. I wonder how much it will cost and what colours will be available.

I'm thinking the Sill Plates and Key Covers for sure.:D

maybe the Removable Roof Rack but at $399, it's a bit pricey......:(

also thinking about adding the Leather Shift Knob that comes on the Lounge. the black plastic and chrome one on the Sport auto looks cheap to me.

Any body catch this? I'm not sure the car can handle that kind of power:rolleyes:

The rest of the accessories seem ok... waiting for some more power though!
