I have been following the progress of the Fiat 500 for over a year now. What we know about its introduction in the USA is that it will probably happen by Dec. 2010.

Now what will be the price? My rough calculation comes like so:

Average price,in US Dollars, from six countries for the 1.4 Liter 500, at current currency exchange rates:

Italy: 22460
Spain: 22687
Germany: 22460
Poland: 20986
UK: 19250
====
Avg= 21586, Less 17% VAT, ==> 17902

EU avg: 17902
Mexico: 18940

AVERAGE: 18421

===================================

If we take the guestimate of $18,421, and compare to the price of the Mini Cooper, approx. 19,500, we get a feel for the Fiat 500 price. We know it must be less than the Mini. Therefore, it will be 1-3 thousand less than that.

We are looking at a range of 16,500 - 18,500 for the Fiat 500. I think the lower amount will be toast due to early demand. Therefore, I am hoping personally to snag one for 17,500, if I can get it for 17,000, I will be very happy!

Cheers,
-- Andy

Are those numbers in US dollars? If it is those numbers make me happy. Looks like the Fiat 500 will be a cheaper alternative to the Mini Cooper.

All in US dollars

Yes I converted all numbers to USD. After all my work, I realized it Is just easier to calculate using the price of the mini cooper. It will simply be 1-3 thousand less than the mini.

it will be in range 16,500 to 18,500

To re-clarify: The cost in U.S. Dollars, of a mini cooper is approximately 19,500.

Therefore we are looking at range of 16,500 to 18,500, again in USD, for a Fiat 500. It has to be priced lower than the mini.

I've used the Fiat USA "Build your Fiat" site and the Lounge with most of the bells and whistles (nicer rims, luxury interior, power sunroof, tom tom etc) comes out close to 25K
