I call my Fiat "my car" and my wife's Jetta "your car".

So when we go out the conversation goes like this..."Are we taking my car or your car?" Whoever answers usually says "lets take my car". Unless one of us needs gas then we say "Lets take your car".

 

Since my Abarth is grey, I had thought of "Topo Grigio" as a funny play on "Topo Gigio". (Who remembers Ed Sullivan, anyway???). But for short, I'll call him Bartito.

 

I dubbed mine "Sprout" last year.

 

I'm probably just calling mine Mrs. B when she gets here...hmmm, dunno.

 

I got a bianco one, and it's quickly been dubbed "The Egg" at home...not sure I like it, but it's what stuck...

 

Got a lot of good ideas here but I keep going back to 'Earl' for my grey Lounge.

Now, my car can always say "My name is Earl".

But my license plate is my amateur radio callsign.

My wifw named hers Bella

 

My wife named her blue Lounge Blue Butterfly and I finally found a name I like, Badonkadonk. Thanks J Lo!

 

The wife has vetoed that name so I'll just call it "Car".

My Abarth got name for me from a friend, since it is Bianco it is dubbed the "snowbank"

 

Shouldn't that be snowBALL?

 

My daughter has a knack for humorous precision when naming things. When I asked her what we should name our new Pop, she came back 5 minutes later and said, "Brutto". "Perfect", I said. She then told me that Brutto is Italian for "Ugly". "Even better", I said!

Long live "Brutto"!

 

Brutto ~ is also used (in Latin languages) for hard-headedness/stubborn. Long live "Brutto".

 

AMACNTO ~ D'oh!

 

Im actually a high school and college italian professor and I actually looked at it as "AMA" stem pf the verb "amare" to love and "cento" part of cinquecento "500". Love my 500!! Thought it was pretty cool. In new York we are allowed 8 characters so amacento actually works. Sweet!!!!

 

Oh wait!! My name is Gaetano so what about TANOCNTO?!!!

 

Mine was named Isabella with almost universal approval of family and friends. My daughter uses the nickname "Bella." Seems Bella has a tie to some vampire movie or something. Anyway, it works on a couple levels for me. The best being how I feel about my Fiat, "Che bella macchina!"

 

I always thought it was kind of weird to name a car... Except for a few beaters I owned that I called POS, I never named any of my cars...

 

I hear that...use to roll an old 91 Buick Riviera as a beater, and it was a POS, but we just called it "The Couch"...really the only car I've had that had a name that truly stuck.

I ordered the licence plate today.

 

Back in 1976 I named my new Fiat 128 "Luigi." (Drove him virtually trouble-free for over a decade, by the way; I think Fiat had solved the problems that had plagued the car, but it was too late to salvage its reputation. ) I named my silver POP "Bebe" at first but then changed to "Silvio" in honor of Mr. Berlusconi and his Bunga Bunga parties.

 

Finally thought of a name for my Grigio Lounge: Topo Grigio!

If you're old enough to remember, Topo Gigio was a popular mouse puppet that most often appeared on the old Ed Sullivan show.

 

I see that someone beat me to Topo Grigio. Well, at least I came up with it on my own.. just a slower thinker I guess. My license plate is my amateur radio call sign so there's no discussion about the plate anyway.

I have the olive green sport and someone said it looked like a turtle so I decided to name my car Donatello (after the teenage mutant ninja turtle). seems to fit!
