You can use either. Personally, I've only ever used synthetic and continue to do so in my 500, but if you're diligent with your oil changes, you can use regular oil and change it no more than 5,000K kms

Since day one 2011, I have only use synthetic motor oil in my the Fiat 500.
The what Fiat recommended, after
the 2013 model year.

Same for our Kia soul, smart car, Honda fit, Honda accord, and the jeep renegade.

I haven’t used Dino oil in any of my vehicles for 14 years now.

I'm the same. Been using synthetic since my first car back in '98
P.S. I also have a Jeep Renegade

Yep , been using synthetic since the 70’s. Do I get a prize?

Of course, the prize is a lack of metal shards in your oil
