Ok, when your speedo reads 60mph, you are actually traveling 61.4mph (2.4% too slow). Why dont use 215/35/17 is the correct size. 60mph for 60mph (0.1% too slow)

Because 35s would look goofy. The 40s fill the wheel the hole better, ride better, safer for the rims, and better milage at freeway speed. Who cares if the speedo is off 1.4 mph slow at 60 mph? Less expensive speeding tickets... It is basically the difference between new tires and worn tires. Negligible.

And besides when I checked the calibration of the speedometer at 60 it was actually 58.9 mph so I've actually closed the gap.
