...but it doesn't seem like a very good sign that it won't even read BPCM fault codes.

For others who could read fault codes, just not system status, they all had to drop the pack, either to recharge the cells or repair the BPCM (or install a used one).

My guess is probably dropped pack but I will let you know tomorrow. What I pull going directly to Duracell.

Either way it went from no idea on a price quote. To know I can ask a price quote.

I just remembered that someone else who couldn't get system status from the BPCM was able to get cell voltage from the EVCM system status readings.

You shouldn't have to view it on the spot, since the app's default setting is to auto-save them to view later.

Most stick outs

HV Battery Current: 0.00 A
HV Battery Max Cell Voltage: 3.71 V
HV Battery Min Cell Voltage: 3.71 V
HV Battery Voltage: 0 V
HV Battery Cell Balancing Status: Not Balancing
HV Interlock Status: Failed
HV Isolation Status: Not Sourced

Meanwhile, "Not Balancing" seems normal, since it often or always seems to balance only when charging from 99% to 100%.

"HV 0V" looks like either:
  • A dead pack, or at least a bit below a possible cutoff point where it stops powering up the BPCM.
  • A dead BPCM.

Interlock (HVIL) failure makes sense for either of the above, since that circuit is powered by the BPCM. It may also power the isolation circuit.

One of us should also compare your persistent fault codes to others' reports here:

List of User's Fault Codes & Their Solutions

For that chart & also for your saved log files & mine in the prior link, the search function makes it very easy to find anything specific. For example, to compare "balancing status", search for that in your file & mine. Or to search the sheet for fault code P0562. I added a line there for your car, with some of your prior results.

Will do later when I see what he persistent codes are.

I thought you already mentioned codes that keep coming back persistently.

Regardless of comparing status or codes, every car so far that could scan status for PIM, OBC & EVCU, but not for BPCM had either a dead pack or a dead BPCM, which in either case means dropping & opening the pack.

You mentioned getting price quotes, but nearly everyone has to do that themselves, since shops that might do it are almost non-existent. QC Charge in Portland OR has done it, & maybe their shop in Vista CA.

Electric ave in LA said no Fiat 500e

ARGONAUT GARAGE will drop the pack and replace BPCM or (board level repair?) and might recharge the pack didn't ask. Refused quotes Bookrate $195 hr. I imagine 5 hours to drop the pack

Earthling Automotive will drop the pack. Cost is 1000 USD plus any parts. Book rate $200 USD will not trickle charge.

While not impossible this is what I've found so far.

ARGONAUT GARAGE... might recharge the pack didn't ask...

Earthling Automotive... will not trickle charge.
That is very important, because:
  • Way more cars have needed a dead pack recharge, than BPCM repair.
  • Even if it just had a bad BPCM at first, it likely sat long enough to also kill the pack.

Earthling Automotive at least what appears to be mentioned. Haven't needed a pack/trickle charge replacement but who knows how many 500e they revived

They could have revived a lot of 500Es & still not needed to do a drop-pack charge:

In 8.5 years of very closely scrutinizing this forum & another one, I can only recall ONE confirmed 500e battery failure (1 cell cluster) that wasn't due to long-term parking uncharged.

EVERY other failure wouldn't need a drop-pack charge if it was fixed before the pack went too dead to charge with the car's built-in system. The fix is nearly always no more than a 12V battery replacement, humidity sensor disable, 30hr 12V/HV reboot, & code clearing. Very rarely it needs Contactor Enable, & even more rare 10 key cycles.

Very rarely, the OBC gets fried, seemingly by grid power surges. Even more rare, the PIM fails, & even more rare than that the BPCM fails. Even in that last case, as long as you drop the pack & fix it before the pack goes dead, it won't need charging while dropped.

Heads up I did the reset all codes again. Red cable

Turn off car wait till black screen

Attach yellow adapter clear codes again

Turn off car wait till black screen

Then attached red cable, went to BCPM right away then battery icon. Would not read no matter what :(
