Different exhaust,better steering wheel,better tires, rear sway bar,better suspension,limited slip, and improved bodywork in the rear with bigger spoiler.You can also turn the esc ALL the way off. Also don't forget the sexy looking pedals.
I just wish they had left the steering rack alone on the Abarth.
Really it's almost like two different cars and I love them both. I hope that the mini type attitude doesn't take hold here in our forums. The guys with the mini S and cooperworks look down on the "base model" mini's at the mini sites. "It's only a base model mini". How incredibly boorish....

 

That type of attitude happens on many different forums re Mustangs Camaro's BMW etc etc etc. Personally it will not bother me if an Abarth owner looks down their nose at my poor little POP. I purchased this 500 strictly for fuel mileage, the other 500 is for pure muscle.

 

Don't forget the ~17 scorpion badges.

I have driven a 500 at length and got my Abarth this week ... and the differences are extreme.

 

since my sport...and my pop before that...has everything i want the difference between the 500 and the abarth is this:

ive heard that the abarth makes you gain weight, too. something about body parts being made of lead?

 

The weight gain is from the big head that people get with the Abarth.
My hat size is now up to a 10 and I don't even take delivery on the Abarth till next week.

 

Yeah, all of you regular 500 people should be looking up to us Abarth owners. We are the superior ... Bwaaaaaa I can't say the with a straight face.

Regular 500s and Abarths are completely different cars, usually bought for different reasons. Now I bought my Abarth to get good gas milage and to have fun. I test drive a vanilla 500 auto over a year ago and was not impressed (the auto was too sluggish for my tastes), but my studio let me do an extended test of a manual sport which was way better. If I had driven a manual that first test drive, I might have bought one then, instead of waiting on my Abarth. They are both good cars. If you don't like the performance of the auto, test drive a manual. You may be impressed.

We live in southern Spain, we wanted an Abarth, they are so expensive here in Spain so I was watching on Ebay until a good one came up, the owner took a deposit to hold it, I flew over to Stanstead the car was just north of Cambridge. It was as good if not better than I expected with a scorpion exhaust, the adventure began......... Portsmouth, Bilboa, Madrid, Granada and home, it did the job perfectly, not quite as good on fuel as I expected but the drive made up for it. My wife wanted a Tributo Ferrari 500 so I have fully blinged it up BTW I'm 67 and still a car nut, I love it! to get it registered in Spain I had to change the exhaust back to original they are very fussy on registering foreign cars ( swapped it back after) we got a s/h original for 125 euros ! So the moral of my story, if you are thinking about one buy it and have fun !!! ours is Rosso / nero with the stripes and all the associated bling, so does that make me a pensioner racer?
