Service Airbag System - warning light on too - Resolved

2017, 500e with 36k miles. Just started doing it after 6 months of owning the car which we purchased from a dealer.

Found another thread titled the same: Service airbag system, Airbag warning light

But that was for an older car and the wiring the owner says was the problem looks different than mine. Here's his picture which I believe shows the white/red and white/green wires, one of which was the problem:

Here's my picture which I believe is the other seat, but mine both look the same. I don't see any spare wires like he's got going around some metal bracket.

Perhaps it's time to take it to the dealer, but I don't like the idea.

Thoughts?

Experience?

The only glitch I ever got that wasn't solved by ONE key cycle off TWO minutes, was solved by 30-second 12V disconnect WITHOUT waiting 5 min for "sleep" (it was before I'd learned that was the "proper" procedure).

However other users have had 30 seconds fail but 3 hours worked, & at least one had that fail but 30 hours worked. Bringing that up now since it takes 30 hours, for which you may need to plan ahead a bit.
I don't understand the key cycle off (once) option, because I do that every day when I'm done driving. Then the next day when I drive about 10 miles, the "Service Airbag System" message comes back. I suppose I can say the key cycle off option doesn't work. I'll try the 12V disconnect after the humidity sensor because the humidity sensor sounds worth while to unhook anyway.

Might as well try the 12 volt battery disconnect since I can't find the humidity sensor (I know, google search it). So I let the car sit with doors closed and hood open for a good 10 minutes, then unhooked the negative lead and put a piece of cardboard under it.

Waiting a convenient amount of time...

No warning for 10 miles but the symbol is there all the time. Just noticed that. Sorry.

The 12 v disconnect for 30 minutes did not work. Warning symbol and intermittent message came right back as soon as I hooked it up.

My son asked and interesting question. Why not consider there is something wrong with the airbag system instead of looking at systems related to it? I think he asked a good question. I'm ready to call the dealer now and see what he says. Also thought to call my regular gas car mechanic to see what he has to say.

It turned right back on before I even got on the street, so I unhooked the 12v battery again and it appears to be working. I drove around the block and it didn't come back on. Then I put some air in the low tire and that warning went off as well. Several on/off tests with the key to check air pressure as I overfilled it and everything looks good. Wife will drive it to work today and we will see how it goes.

Thanks.

If it does work, I suppose the lesson for false alarms is to deactivate the humidity sensor first. THEN do a 12V disconnect.

Even if it doesn't, sensor delete has worked for others, so I now consider it essential "user prep".
Your detail and willingness to help are remarkable. Thanks a bunch!

Well, it lasted 2 weeks. The warning came on again yesterday in cooler/wet weather on a drive out to the farm. It was 50 degrees and raining. Will try the 12 Volt disconnect again.
