Why such stupid lugnuts

WHY PEOPLE???
My locking key is stripped so I was not able to torque the security bolt on my summer tires yesterday. Of course NOBODY IN TOWN SELLS M12x1.25. M12x1.50? One dollar each. Anywhere. Corner store, Canadian Tire, Napa, shifty neighbour's, whatever.

M12x1.25 though... well you're out of luck! Nobody stocks them. Not even Chrysler or the Fiat studio. Why not just use the ubiquitous 1.50 pitch thread instead of this nonsense 1.25? I'm grounded for several days now. Gah!

You didn't get to keep the four originals that the locks replaced when you bought the car?

With the key face stripped and not threads, you have the option of using a special socket made for grabbing the outside edge of wheel locks to remove them. If you weren't aware of those. Do you have a small foreign car parts store. They've kind of gone by the wayside it seems.

My car is bone-stock.
I have not made any changes or gotten any non-OEM or generic parts.
The security bolts may be non-standard but I find that hard to believe coming from the dealer.

And Streetsurfer: No I did not get the bolts. i didn't know that the security bolts weren't the standard equipment! I just wish that the lugnuts had regular thread pitch like every other lug nut out there :p I could buy a thousand M12x1.50 ones for $1 each, but not a soul stocks M12x1.25.

Ah, the security bolts are still removable with the key. They just cannot be torqued on properly.
I am going to take the afternoon off work and drive to the sorta local FIAT dealer and grab some regular old dull grey lug nuts. I don't really need the security bolts at the moment. I live in a safe part of the world.
I'll order a new key eventually but for now I will be happy with just regular lug nuts.

... Not sure if the stud conversion is possible for these cars.
Midwest Bayless Fiat has studs that work. You can use the ones for Fiat x1/9's. They carry a variety of lengths.

Haha not to worry. I am not angry with the car or with FIAT. To be honest, the key was stripped by someone changing my tires; it had nothing to do with FIAT. Just irritating seeing lugnuts falling out of the sky in all shapes, sizes, and colours, but nothing that is compatible with my car!

I got hold of two lugnuts at the local dealer. The other two will be in Thursday. Then I will be able to drive to work without worrying that every bump and shudder is my wheel coming off :p
