Air Conditioner in the 500e?

I got 2016 fiat 500e.
The AC seems to not be working like it does on normal motor vehicle.
It just seems like it doesn't blow cold enough air it seems like its warmish hair instead even though its on lowest temperate and AC is toggled.
First time owning an EV so I dont know if this is how an EV is suppose to be or my fiats AC not working properly...

My A/C blows cold air. Do you have it set to a certain temperature, or to "low"? "Low" seems to be the fresh air setting, you might set it to 10-15 degrees below ambient and it should blow cold in just a few seconds.

It should be blowing cold like a normal AC. Mine recently stopped blowing cold due to a bad compressor and a plugged condenser. It took just about 6 weeks to get the car back since it took quite a while to get parts, but unfortunately since the compressor was getting so hot they couldn't release the car back to me while we waited for parts. May not be the same issue you're having, but my bad compressor was getting so hot they considered it a safety issue so you may want to have it looked at.

AC button is definitely lit and I press the thats pointing arrow at the top(face) but does not seem cold at all.
I might stop by at a fiat studio to have to check it out I also would like to try the AC out on a different Fiat.
Car has less then 1000 miles but still that doesn't matter

I'm not exactly following what you wrote.
Have the AC light lit, and the light lit indicating the airflow is coming straight out of the vents (middle button on the right side). Be sure the temperature setting is below what the temperature of the car is. Is there strong air flow out of the dash vents?

I went to a near by fiat studio but not where i leased my car from. Walked in told the guy my situation he had a 500e in the showroom he brought the keys and told me to give it a try I turned on the AC same way I turn it on in my car and dam! It was blowing very cold air nothing compared to my car and exact same setting as well. Made an appointment at the service department to get the car checked out it has less than 1000 miles this is ridicilous. Hopefully they give me a loaner car or something. I also installed LED lights but i dont think that modification wouldve damaged anything AC related.

No 500e has Freon in its a/c, but we're talking semantics here.

Freon is a tradename for R12, the chlorofluorocarbon refrigerant used in car a/c systems until the early 90s. R12 chemically attacks the atmosphere's ozone layer, and international treaties from the late 80s prohibited its manufacture and discouraged its use.

Cars (including the 500e) now come with R134a refrigerant, a different chemical (tetrafluoroethane) that has insignificant ozone depletion potential.

A/C started to blow warm air again. Looks like there might be a leak somewhere.

Any info on the lemon law regarding this if dealer can't fix the issue?
Summer already and in social 100+ degrees can't drive with window down on freeway.
Made an appointment to take car to service again.

**Update**

Picked up car from service they told me the A/C refrigerant was low.
It was also low a month ago when I took it the first time.
I told them there might be a leak causing it to become low. They didn't care and sent me on my way.
Works great right now probably a month later will start blowing warm air again.

Might take it to a different dealer , or contact a lawyer to see if anything can be done by lemon law.

For everyone saying it blows ice cold is that when it is already hot? Or during the day when the sun is beating down on the glass sunroof?

On full blast on hot days in northern CA, the a/c feels pretty sad. at night with no sun it can get cold for me tho. Am I just doomed because of the greenhouse effect of the sunroof?

It's been 100+ all over SoCal the last few days...the AC in my 500e has worked like a champ.
I don't have a sunroof, base car.

I think there are two issues:
1. Does the A/C blow cold? Yes

2. Does the climate control do a good job maintaining temperature? NO!

The automatic climate control allows temps to swing widely, much more than any car I've ever owned.
You can't "set and forget" like most cars, you have to muck with it, in my experience anyway.
I'm often adjusting the temp between 68 and 75 degrees.

I don't run the A/C frequently, but don't think I have that problem. I basically set it for around 73 and forget it. I do set the recirculate on most of the time (no outside air?). My trips are usually under 15 minutes so there isn't much humidity builtup.

I already took the car for service twice for the A/C.
First service: they said the refrigerant level is low. They recharged/refilled and it was blowing nice cold air for 4-5 weeks and then started blowing warm/cool air again.
Second service : they said the same thing that refrigerant level is low. So I'm assuming there is a leak somewhere again they refilled/recharged the system and sent me on my way home. I argued that it has a leak service advisor didnt want to help further.
Called fiat customer care will be taking to different dealer next week.

Times have changed, and air conditioning failures have remained the same. I was hoping that by this year they would have invented something eternal. So, I went to see if there is a solution to my problem with the fact that the warm air does not blow. Maybe there's a leak somewhere. I tried to solve this problem myself but I didn't succeed. Well, I'll have to call an air conditioning repair servicing, although I wanted to save money. But I'm tired of being cold.

Right. The only way to get fresh vent air without A/C is with ALL the left-side HVAC lights off, including the "off" light ("off" shuts off the intake vents). The only way I know to describe how to get that for sure is to keep hitting any light that's on, until they're all off. Then like Kiesling noted, to keep the heater off, lower the temp until it says "LO" (60 is the lowest actual number on my 2013).

You can then often avoid needing A/C if you crank the fan, with the passenger vents closed if you're solo, for maximum personal airflow. However keep in mind that A/C doesn't use as much power as driving a bit faster, so it usually burns more range if you try to drive faster in order to arrive before you get too hot.

I think the "Auto" setting is over-rated. If you set the temp it will auto-heat or auto-cool to that temp. You can save power by using recirc when heating, AND with a/c IF you're trying to make it COLDER inside than outside (just check the speedo's temp gauge). I'm pretty sure the "auto" setting won't do that.

I tried setting my AC to low and it still didn't work and continued blowing hot air for a while. I also made sure I did not set it to auto but it was still blowing hot air. I think if all these still does not work you should bring the air con for servicing. I read some online that air con servicing would be the best resort as the coolant level was low in my case. Don't think you can solve it just by pressing some buttons

Right, pressing buttons solves only the mystery of how to get fresh outside air without A/C.

I assume you're trying it with the motor "started" (display shows "ready"), & the A/C button light is on. Set at "Lo" with the fan on & vents open mine blows pretty cold, pretty fast, & cools the whole cabin quickly, but the latter is really just a function of its small volume, plus my car is white so it doesn't get as hot as a darker color.

Low motor coolant levels don't affect A/C.

I have an issue where my car only blows cold air when I am travelling on the highway with the engine working hard. I don't know if you guys have the same issues but I read online on some air con servicing websites that it could be something to do with low coolant levels or the car battery being faulty. I got my coolant restocked and now everything is fine.
