Does your Abarth have a Muffler??

I was watching a video of a Muffler change on an Abarth and I realized something. Mine doesn't have a muffler, it is straight pipe all the way from the Cat. Is this the same for everyone?

And I also noticed that Performance shops like 500madness were talking about an exhaust upgrade (among other parts) from stock to help get an Abarth to 196HP.

I was confused cause I was like, "What exhaust would be better then free flow?"

Here is the video

The one MADNESS installed for the 196HP(MM ECU+MADNESS Prototype intake) is the MM Bomberdard which is a straight-pipe with no cat.

Now, when you ask "What exhaust would be better then free flow?"... we still need TBD because a lot of them is still under testing and production... RRM, Pogea, Supersprint, and etc. So we dont really know until some of us get them installed and write reviews about it. But again, who would actually have the $$$ to buy them all and test them one by one?

On May 28th, they stopped putting the large "suitcase" under the back of the car. It turns out, the "suitcase" has a straight pipe inside it.

It seems it was there as parts of the car were being finalized for production before the final exhaust was picked. So they made a provision for a muffler, but didn't need it.

What he said. No Abarth has a muffler. Some of them have what LOOKS like a muffler but there is nothing inside it except a pipe. At the time of release, the egineers weren't sure if the car would meet noise requirements without a muffler, so they stuck the "suitcase" on just in case they needed it later.

The suitcase looks nice---for those times you have the car on a lift. Otherwise as I understand it is purely cosmetic (and adds 18lbs of weight). Still kinda wish I had one, though!

Check around, someone might want to swap to save the weight.

Seems like I read it was 60mm. It is recommended to upgrade to 2-1/2" from the cat back..... If your Abarth produces enough HP, it might even be better to use a 3". I know that's what the Saab 9000 Turbo aftermarket goes to, and that engine produces 225hp or so (at the crank) in stock trim.....

Thanks mattsnapz, you are a wonderful contributor to the forum. I appreciate your sarcasm, but it does nothing for a new member. In the couple months I've been part of this forum, I have realized that there are a lot of angry, possibly un-adjusted, passive aggressive, and negative "regulars" here which are the most common posters on this blog. Yes Tedolph, I am pointing you out as one. Not a good nor welcoming blog for a newcomer. You all rock on and keep up with what you do.
