Flashing Odometer after Stereo Install / Proxy Alignment?

I had an aftermarket Android car stereo installed and the odometer started flashing in accessories mode and after turning the ignition on. Tried disconnecting the negative wire to the battery for 15 minutes, twice. Tried the other quick fix of turning the ignition tumbler to accessories mode, turning on and off the hazard lights, pulling out key and putting in key to start the car.

I am thinking that I need to do a Proxy alignment with AlfaOBD app for PC, OBDLink MX+ and a Yellow Cable.
Does anyone have experience with this issue? As AlfaOBD doesn't have an iPhone app, I am anticipating that I would connect my laptop to the OBD device via Bluetooth.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated

I haven't experienced this because I have the original stereo, but I can offer up some general advice.

First, as you've experienced, the change in stereo from factory to aftermarket has caused the flashing odometer.

* Flashing Odometer = Car needs a Proxy Alignment w/ Alfa OBD or MES (MultiECUscan).

* Proxy Alignments are recommended to ONLY be carried out over a CABLED connection to the PC or MAC.

The reason for this is because the last thing you want to occur during a Proxy Alignment is to have a "disconnect" of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection which would quite possibly "brick" your ECU (Vehicle Computer) due a incomplete configuration.

Hope that helps and close the loop by continuing this thread, that way others can learn from your experience.

Photos are also suggested as they are worth 1,000 words and who doesn't like pics?! ;)
Thank you very much for the info! I will be getting the necessary equipment this week and hopefully that solves the issue.
