So my Fiat studio emailed me, they are having an end of the month sale. It has crossed my mind to see if they REALLY want to sell me an Abarth :)

I was thinking, I dont need to sell my Sport, but I would if the price was so good I can't walk away.

What would you say is this kind of price, realistically, on a base Abarth?

They have one in stock that has MSRP of $22,700.

I was thinking $3500 (I read that here before I think) off MSRP, so $19,200.

PLUS no dealer addons (tinted windows, etc)

PLUS payoff on my Sport (about $13800)

I am sure I am dreaming, but why not? They have 35 in stock currently!

I keep hearing there are lots of Abarth's sitting on lots and there are a few here too....i'm surprised this car is not doing that well...i see more and more Fiats around but rarely do i see another Abarth...are they just too much money for the size of the car? Are people really that practical? I'd say anything around $20,000 for an Abarth is an awesome deal, i paid a lot more for mine and am perfectly happy with that...although i do get the distinct feeling that i'm stuck with this beauty for a while...used Abarth's are...uh...well...going to be hard to sell to say the least with dealer pricing like that

No, but Americans are that CHEAP! If it's the size of a 500 they think it should cost $10,000 no matter the amount of technology the small package contains.

I think the Abarth and T should remain as manual transmissions. I could not wait to purchase an Abarth but if I did, I really feel there will be some good deals to be had. The Abarth's are not selling as well as they should mainly because of the cost and lack of an automatic. Lets face it, not many people today want to drive or know how to drive a manual transmission....

Here is my 2 cents and what I have heard form my Fiat Studio rep that has been selling Fiat's in the USA since 1971 and has many Abarth's on his lot. I'm not an Abarth owner, however I do have two 2013 Fiat 500 Lounge's. Your comment about the Abarth being only a manual trans is true, many people would prefer the the look, feel and sound of the Abarth if the could get it in an automatic trans. also many customers come in looking to purchase a FIAT and what customers say is that nothing says Fiat on the car. I found that comment to be interesting, but as a former Mercedes-Benz owner for many years, I know that AMG drivers want that 3 pointed star on the car even so it is a AMG / MBenz.
Then there is the customer that just wants a GREAT looking car at a better price point then the high end Abarth model.

I think it is interesting that certain individuals want FIAT on their cars. I wanted it to say FIAT as well, as this company has a long rich history and people do not know who is responsible for designing my car because all it states everywhere is "Abarth". I wish FIAT would at least put their emblem somewhere on the Abarth because they should be proud of the product they designed. Of course, anyone in the "know" realizes the Abarth is a FIAT product.

I haven't even thought about the name..i kind of like it not having Fiat on it just because it confuses people....but as a car guy i can't fathom not being able to tell its a Fiat, i haven't thought about it that way though...interesting point

I gotta say one of the reasons I bought the Fiat 500 was because my first car was a Fiat 500 back in the day. Now if and when I decide to sell my audi TT I might go for an Abarth. But to me the Abarth name means some nice exhaust systems I used to buy for my sports stuff back in the 60's and 70's. They had just the right amount of pure sound, black winkle paint, chrome and of course a nice red scorpion:)

Real world numbers, you'll be looking at:

$19,700-$21,700 for the base Abarth depending on the size of the Studio. Larger dealerships can afford to lose more due to volume bonuses. Keep in mind, the Abarth has less than $1k mark-up, so us salesmen barely clear a flat commission even when we sell a FIAT at full sticker. If the Studio truly needs to move something today, you should get a great deal.

$10k-$12k for your Sport depending on miles and year. There are several pre-owned '12 Sports for sale around here for $13-14k.

Don't expect to get $19,700 AND $14k. If they're at one extreme on price or trade, they won't go to the extreme on the other. They have to offset the difference to make sense of the bottom line.

Hope you get one!!!

love for the 500 has little to do with power numbers. it has already been proven that plenty of abarth owners (as well as plenty of regular 500 owners) came from cars that have much greater raw power numbers, cornering ability, etc..yet still found an overall appeal in the 500 package. as a "car guy" you should understand the concept, but you don't.

odd, since the 500 has inspired you to post 10 times a day for a whole year. as a car guy, maybe you could spend more time with your cars and less time here poo pooing the 500.

The exhaust note of the Abarth is two sided... It attracts the enthusiasts or soon to be enthusiasts and then, for the average person it tends to be a bit too loud for a daily driver... So perhaps on that note, it is possible why it seems not as many are being sold and seen on the road...

Fiat could have had the exhaust or lack of exhaust as an option, which may have made a difference in sales numbers... There is more to the Abarth than just the exhaust...

If the Abarth were made to order, like some other vehicles, then it would hold a better resale value...

Just my .02 cents...

I got a letter in the mail today and in the past 6 months or so I've gotten 2, maybe 3 calls to trade in my 2012 Sport...which I did around 6 months ago...then I traded it for $17K, the letter offered $12K...pppfffttt. Anyways, love my Abarth which does have the FIAT name on it in at least 6 places, I love seeing so many changing from one of the NA models to a 500T and Abarth!

The windows? "Fiat" comes up when you turn on the radio too!

I don't think the Abarth's are sitting on the lots as much as it seems. I think the dealers are finally able to order lots of them and they want to have options available so that they can upsell people that come in looking for a Sport.

OK newer lancer evo has a manumatic - u got me.

And the autobox rx-7 and rx-8 are snoozers.
Getting a low torque rotary without a manual is like getting an abarth without turbocharging.

Granted newer manumatics can be quite nice and "almost" as fun to drive as a manual, but considering their weight, complexity, and cost, the only thing they are good for is landing in a junkyard with a blown tranny with a nice lower mileage motor attached to them, for swapping into your stll running and on the road high mileage manual trans equipped car.

Well I'm about to trade up to an abarth from a smart and I would be very interested in resell value. After reading every single post here I would agree with the guys that talk about the manual being the problem. At the same time I'm happy they only offer it in manual because if they had an auto it would be very hard to get and auto.
