There on all modern cars. A body shop would know how. Give one a visit. That you best bet.

 

Oh okay. After looking at them closer it looks like there are little levers on the sides closest to the sunroof, but can't seem to figure out how they work. Wish I had a Fiat studio closer to ask about it, most auto/body shops around these parts look at my car like its a spaceship.

 

Those seal the roof to the sides, they are not removable in the typical sense of the word. Yes you can take them out and then you have a world of trouble. As smark said, this should only be attempted by a body shop, unless you want a water feature in your car from all of the rain gushing in.

 

Strangely my 2013 Abarth (bought a few weeks ago used) is missing these strips. Just spent the morning clearing tree debris out of them.. Any tips on where to buy replacements?

I know this is old but to answer the question the usually black or colour matched strips are covers for the roof rack mounting screws that come in most cars these days. I put a small flat head screw driver in the front of it against the rubber seal of the windshield and popped it up in order to install my roof rack for my kayaks. Replacements can be found at any body shop or place you buy roof racks
