Okay I just built my own GQ and I kept it pretty basic.

$ 28.500 really :confused:......... You can buy an Abarth 500C cheaper than the GQ. Why would you want to buy a GQ when you get more Bang for the $$$$ with the Abarth ???

For the Budget Minded Fiat Lover the AB 500C is just a better buy all around and it does not have Hair Dresser in Loafers written all over......:D:D aka GQ

Sorry not making Fun of the Hair Stylists here ....... just saying I have a feeling the GQ will go Belly up.......fast.

yeah, and didn't we already pay for that with the current lineup:confused: just marketing...like the 1957 edition (or whatever it is). priced up for a few cosmetic changes.

Considering it is an Italian car, this particular one styled by an American fashion institution, the repeated "hair dresser in loafers" comments make no sense. Giovanni Agnelli & his grandson, Lapo Elkann, are fashion icons. Lapo can often be seen photographed in… wait for it… loafers. Italian driving moccasins are essentially loafers.

Anyway, this marks the second special edition FIAT styled by USAmericans. The Cattiva did not perform well… even with strong incentives. I'm not certain whether this one will fair well. 'Two 500Ts… neither the Cattiva nor the GQ have an auto option (one had to go with a non-turbo to get that in the Cattiva).

I do think the 1957 edition will do well… that is the first USAmerican-styled 500, 500e aside, to take every nook & cranny of the project dead serious. Those two cars deserve to sell as did the Italian-styled Guccis.

Well, of course, that depends on how many they build. The Cattiva & GQ, for all intents and purposes, are 500Ts. The 'T' is handled as a high end 500S. So, yeah, if deep discounts are offered again (for the 500S), I imagine it would extend to unsold GQs. But that scenario is 8-9 months away. There may be a market for this SE.

The GQ is "just another special edition" and not really that much different, imo, than a regular 500T. Slightly different wheels and the GQ logo are the only things that jump out. It doesn't really pull you in. I don't know cool at all, but Gucci is cool. GQ conjures up visions of dooshbags with 3 days of stubble that think they're God's gift to women.

The 1957 edition is a real eye-catcher. It's positive. It's fun. It's clearly different in a very recognizable way. The GQ is just.... meh.

Hate to bust your bubble but d-bags with 3 days of stubble are God's gift to women.

What's really a shame is, there were two other US Special Editions that were introduced but never released: The Venom and the Tenebra. Both of those would probably have been a much bigger hit than the GQ, Cattiva or Gucci models. The US is definitely missing out on these SE models.
 I thought the Gucci did well... plus it was the first international SE (after the PE). I thought that was cool... really liked the package, limited build and only 2-3 year availability.

The Venom & Tenebra are definite misses, for FIAT USA. I just don't get how/why some of their decisions are made.

Where did you get that number from, just bought one last night - no where near that out the door, it turned out to be cheaper then a full load abarth - the other thing problem in Canada is all GQ's (all 50 of them) come fully fully load, Beats, Nav, ComfortGroup. The US version get to pick out some of those options.

I don't understand why I keep hearing the GQ is over-priced.

I compared the window sticker to a base AbarthC and only noticed a few differences. It still has the Abarth High Performance Suspension. It still has the Dual Intercoolers. It still has the heavy duty manual trans. It still has the floating psi gauge.

The BIG differences I saw are:
No Track Experience.
Exhaust has a muffler.
Wheels are the new Sport upgrade wheels with red painted interiors.
Steering wheel, while very nice looking in the two-tone, is the smaller standard wheel.
Base floor mats, not the "Luxury" Abarth mats. ;-)

The NICE differences are:
That leather is SOFT.
The two-tone steering wheel and seats are sharp.
The satin accents are nice.
The matte dash is AMAZE-BALLS!!! I'd love to put that in my Bianco Abarth!

So, with these differences in mind, I price compared it to a Base AbarthC @ $27,150 ($26,000 base price + $450 + $700 Destination) MSRP (the only add is Gray Mirror Caps/Stripe/Top for $450). The GQ we have has an MSRP of $27,595 ($26,095 base price + $700 GQ Pkg + $800 Destination). That's nowhere near the $3k extra that was tacked onto the Gucci. In this case, you're getting a bit more style, and bit less other things, for a better price (once you add at least leather to the base to make it a closer comparison).

Do I think they will sell like crazy? No.

But they are FAR FROM over-priced.

I fail to understand what is so shocking or offensive about this SE. Every owner a modern 500 (any trim or model) is driving around in what has been repeatedly described, in reviews, as a 'cute' fashion accessory. Oh… the first 500 SE was the 500 Diesel. 'Some insecure folks…

Me personally, *ANY* Fiat 500 that is in the $28K or more range is overpriced given the size of the vehicle and other cars that become available in that price range (purely my opinion - everyone's value for the money threshold is different).

I think SEs are meant to drum up/hold interest... keep things fresh and/or test new ideas between model updates. It's a limited edition... not a new model in the permanent line-up. I think Woody is correct... there is a market for these SEs. They are not meant to interest everyone.

I year and 12,000 mile guarantee for both the car and the denim....that's a pretty optimistic warranty for AMC.

Be like anytime they add something to a vehicle, like those Eddie Bower Trucks, couple of extra doo dads, and charge like 10k extra. People will get the SE GQ just because it says "GQ" on it. To me it usually means they're charging extra for the badging basically.

You haven't read the specs on this car, my friend. It has the power of an Abarth... styling along the lines of a Gucci… and pricing in the Abarth neighborhood. Sure, it's a little more than a 500T. But it is an (less than 10k more) upgrade from a standard 'T' where it counts… the seats, the wheel, the satin bits, the tuning, the suspension, the diffuser and the cabrio. The non-distinct badging & exhaust are the only weak points I see.

Diesel, Gucci, 500 Barbie, 500 Pink, Abarth 695 Ferrari, Abarth 695 Maserati, Abarth 595 Turismo, Abarth 500 Cabrio Italia, Abarth 595 50th Anniversary, 500/500c GQ IT, 500c GQ US, 1957 and the list will go on. Why another exclusive fashion accessory 500 SE would surprise anyone is the first sign of denial. Yes… your car, too, is an Italian car. Just as FIAT did in the past… the good ol' days… most of the printed & televised adverts are fashion oriented.

Armchair experts take note: There is a reason they keep coming up with new exclusive trinkets. Unlike what the thread title suggests, they do sell… over-and-over again.
