How long was your wait from order to delivery?

To all you lucky Abarth owners who ordered your fiery 500, how long did it take from time of order until you drove home with a Joker-like grin on your face?

Was told by the dealer about 3-4 months but interested to hear more accurate first hand experiences. My order was placed a couple of weeks ago and it already feels like an eternity. To think I, and others who recently ordered, have months to go....what an ultimate test of patience! :D

Im in Canada and not sure if you want to find out how long I waited.... I put a deposit Aug 2011..My Abarth got ordered March 7th and took delivery July 18.. Thats 19 WEEKS from order to delivery!! Mine was the ultimate test of patience.. As the out dealers in the North were told by corporate that it would be 4-6 weeks from order to delivery.. THen our first allocation got bumped to after the US 3rd allocation.. so that is the reason for the long wait...And I'm still waiting for my welcome package.. ill be looking in the mail in about 2 month for that I guess

I placed the order for my wife's last Thursday and picked it up Monday!

I ended up purchasing a leftover '12 that matched our order exactly but was 500 miles away. Now do I cancel the order or have one for each of us??? :p

The Tacoma, C6 and the Abarth are my wife's toys.

The F355 is red, very very red. :)

Ordered mine on February 28th, picked it up June 14th. So 3-4 months is a pretty accurate time frame...at least in my experience. Congrats!

I paid the deposit for mine on June 26th, and was told I'd end up with a 2013 sometime in late September/early October. I DO know the dealer hasn't placed the order yet, because Fiat won't accept it. According to my dealer, Fiat apportions Abarths correlated to overall 500 regional sales. Here in Minnesota, I believe roughly 20 Abarths have been sold and delivered (all 2012s). Mine will be number 29, so I anticipate five orders will be filled before the next available slot to order is due here. Hence, I don't think I'll see my car before November, but hope I'm wrong -- the wait is absolutely agonizing!

Although I was initially disappointed at not being able to have one quickly, I've become sanguine about it ending up a 2013. I'm happy to know it will have heated seats, though more for my wife's sake than my own. Better quality carpet is always nice, though my current Honda Element has rubber floors that I love. At age 62, my son applauds my knowing who Dr. Dre is, though his alleged "music" makes me nauseous -- still, I can hope the Beats audio system is an improvement. Frankly, I'm far more entertained listening to the exhaust than any in-dash audio!

I once ordered a car that took 11 months to arrive, but I was young then, and apparently far more patient. I've become way more about instant gratification, now that my days are more finitely numbered than when I was young!

My question is how long did it take from when they started the production process to delivery? Last I heard my order had been assigned a VIN but had not been slotted for assembly yet, this was last week. In Canada there is no VOTS system. I have to call the dealer and the sales rep has to contact Fiat/Chrysler and then call me back. It's not a big deal, but if I had online tracking I'd check every day to kill some time at work, whereas there's no way I'm going to be that guy, calling the dealer every day.

As a side note, the dealer said that this may have something to do with homeland security. He said that once the vehicle is on a train he's basically completely out of luck until it shows up at the rail yard. Apparently they don't like people from outside the USA being able to get specific information on individual rail cars and their routing.

placed the order on may 3rd. i was told it would take 30 to 40 days for delivery. it was delivered on august 5th. so 3 months. 1 month of that time was due to the plant shutting down. my car didn't make it through the line before the shut down. i was on the last order for 2012 cars for the Portland dealership.

Your can track your order once you know the VIN

Here is how you can track your order if you know the VIN:

Go to the link below but before you do you have to make three changes: change the ddddd to your dealer's code (found in small print on any Window Sticker on any new car on their lot. Look near the bottom of the sticker near the delivery address). The number "might" start with a 6 and is probably 5 digits. One example of dealer code in N.C. is 69108.

Also, change the xxxxxx in this link to your VIN sequence number (last 6 digits). Your sales guy can tell you this as soon as the manufacturer assigns it.

Lastly, each car's VIN has a CHECK DIGIT (in RED below) in the 9th position from left. There is no way to know what it is for your car so, you'll have to re-try this link (after putting in the correct dealer number and sequence number), changing the Check Digit each try.

Make certain your link looks EXACTLY as shown below except for the mods I've mentioned above.

Now, start with a 0 Check Digit and cycle through to 9 till you get a hit. My car's check digit turned out to be a 7 so I had to edit the link and re-enter it 8 times before its Vehicle & Status and Information page displayed in my browser. Once you get it, save or bookmark the correct link and try it whenever you want.

After I got the VIN from my sales guy I watched my vehicle go from Scheduled for Build, to Framing, to Built, to Departed Facility. Now its on a train just outside Laredo TX (as of 9/8/12)

Here is the link (I recommend copying it into a text editor, fixing it, then pasting the fixed link back into your URL window. Then re-try it until you've tried all Check Digits)

https://insightnl.extra.chrysler.com...T_DEALER_CODE=ddddd&INPUT_TRACEABLES=3C3CFFFH7DTxxxxxx&INPUT_SEARCH_BY=VIN

Here is the URL link split over two lines. You'll need to concatenate them into one long link in your text editor, edit in the Dealer Code, Check digit and Sequence Number, then copy it and paste it back into your browser's URL window and you've got it!

https://insightnl.extra.chrysler.com/inl_dealer/INLRouter.jas?INPUT_ACTION_NAME=com/uprr/app/inl/action/DealerVehicleTraceAction
&INPUT_DEALER_CODE=ddddd&INPUT_TRACEABLES=3C3CFFFH7DTxxxxxx&INPUT_SEARCH_BY=VIN

For those if you who already have a FIAT you can embed your serial number information to see the history of its build information. Or, if you see a FIAT on the lot and you're curious, just copy a serial number & dealer code, modify this link with that information and you'll see its build history, how long it took to get to your Studio, then you can figure out how long its been on their lot. For example I found out my Pop Cabrio was built last Oct., delivered to Studio in November where it remained unsold till I bought it in April of this year.
