Hey Guy's and Ladies ,

I posted a fix for the flashing odometer sometime ago - It is a simple fix .

This works for me when I replaced my stock radio for a After Market Pioneer Double Din Radio.

1> Car is Off
2> Turn Key Accessory Mode but dont start the Car
3> Put the Hazard Lights on and then turn them off
4> Turn Key to Off Position
5> Take Key Out
6> Put Key Back in and ODO Mileage will stop flashing.

I hope this helps someone ......

Thanks.....
I had to come back here and say It worked!!! The ODO was blinking and I did what you said!! 😃😃😃😃🥰🥰🥰 thank you!

Thanks for the info, what I did was un plug the battery cables for 30 minutes and then I put them back on and turned the key to mode not turning the car on and the ODD stoped blinking it seem to fix the ODD and my blue&me both stopped working at the same time (y)

In my case it started at 93K miles. All simple fixes noted here did not work. Dealer did diagnostics and said the telematics module is bad and needed replacement. Bad news is that the module costs $645 and the labor and programming costs $570. So, no thanks, I can do without hands-free phone calling.

It's a proxy alignment issue. The BCM expects to "talk" to the radio over CAN bus, if it's not the original radio and you don't put a CAN bus adapter, it will continue blinking.
In mcbrew case, not sure why it could had the issue, but as you mentioned it went away once you reset (by disconnecting the battery).
I had this problem myself with an aftermarket stereo with CAN adapter, it drove me nuts, till a member here told me how to set the dip switches correctly on the adapter!
Do you remember what they were

Did you remove positive and negative, I'm just worried the radio will need a code.

Disclaimer: I don't know much about cars (except that I like them).

The same thing is happening to my 2013 Abarth. The battery died due to the lack of needing to drive it (lost job due to Covid)..... jumped the battery numerous times using a little jumper battery over the last year (I know, bad). Even worse - I accidentally connected the negative cable to the positive nub on the battery... the car honked at me a lot and then started making some other weird *** noises. I immediately turned the car off and noticed my error. Ever since this bad jump, the following has been occurring:

  • Odometer blinks once the car is completely on (in accessory mode the odometer does NOT flash)
  • The two dots in the clock flash along with the odo
  • My Blue & Me has stopped working on the steering wheel. Pressing the button does nothing
  • The under the hood fuse F01 (Body Controller) seems to be causing my battery to drain literally overnight
  • Fuse F36 (in cavity 5) seems to also be causing a drain (maybe related to F01?)

My husband checked the battery that I jumped wrong (eh)... and it was pretty low. Replaced that battery with a new one and did a fuse test (unplugged 1 fuse at a time and then replaced it before moving on to the next) to see if there was a bad fuse. Once F36 and F01 were pulled (separately), the testing meter dropped to 0. We have removed the F36 fuse (diagnostic socket, car radio, climate control) to keep the new battery from draining.

Are we on the right path with this process? Does this post make sense? LOL .... is it the broken Blue & Me that is causing a parasitic drain on the battery? Or are we completely off?

Thanks! I really appreciate any help with this.

I have the same problem with a 2016 Fiat sport. I was told from a Fiat mechanic that it is the module behind the radio. It drained my battery . They told me to fix it I need to buy a new Fiat radio.$1,200. Didn't make sense. My radio is dead. Fiat told me the radio controls everything in the car.

Fiat is aware of this problem. It's the module in back of the radio that controls the battery charge.

I brought my car in for service just last week and they told me the flashing odometer is connected with the telematics module. I would need to replace the module at a cost of about $1000. The telematics also drained my battery and I even replaced the battery. I've had the telematics disconnected for 2 years instead of replacing it and somewhere after that the odometer eventually started to flash. Disconnecting the module might bring up other issues, but the dealership couldn't really comment on what, but they also felt like I didn't need to rush to replace it if ever. I don't have bluetooth or nav and it's not a big deal for me.

I don't know cars that well but I've had enough issues with the telematics so if your car suddenly won't start in the morning without any glaring issues the telematics is probably to blame. Without my knowing, the service people reconnected the telematics module at my last visit and it has drained my battery again!

I had the same problem. That car is bad news. I got rid of it. All these Fiat owners are misdiagnosing this problem. ITS THE MODULE. The dealer charged me $1300. Good luck. It drained my battery too. Aweful.. Stargaze, please get rid of that💩
